No Family Doctor in Sarnia? Your Options

How to get on the provincial wait-list, and where to get care while you wait.

Bluewater Metabolic & Clinical Services · Suite 206, 805 Christina St N, Point Edward · Video visits across Ontario

Many people in Sarnia-Lambton don’t have a family doctor or Nurse Practitioner. You still have options, and you can use more than one at the same time.

1. Join Health Care Connect

Health Care Connect is Ontario’s free program that matches people with a family doctor or Nurse Practitioner who is taking new patients. Register online at ontario.ca or call 811. You need a valid Ontario health card, and your mailing address must match the card. Urgent needs are matched first, and a match can take time.

2. Get advice from Health811

Call 811 or use Health811 online for free advice from a registered nurse, 24 hours a day. It can help you decide whether you need to be seen and where.

3. See a Nurse Practitioner while you wait

At our clinic you can book directly, with no referral, no family doctor and no OHIP card needed. Our NP can assess and treat new problems, order lab tests, renew or review medications and complete forms. Visits are private, with published fees. Minor illness visits start at $50, in clinic or by video. Appointments are usually available within the week, including evenings and Saturdays.

We don’t replace a family doctor for round-the-clock or hospital care. When you are matched with a family doctor, we can send them a summary of your visits with your consent.

4. Emergencies

For chest pain, trouble breathing, signs of stroke, severe bleeding or other emergencies, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

If you don’t have OHIP

International students, newcomers waiting for OHIP and visitors can book with us too. See care without OHIP.
