Perimenopause often starts in the 40s, sometimes earlier, and symptoms tend to build slowly. Many people put up with them for years. An extended assessment looks at your symptoms, health history and risks, then goes through the treatment options with you.
Common reasons people book
- Hot flashes and night sweats
- Poor sleep or waking through the night
- Mood changes, anxiety or low mood
- Brain fog and trouble concentrating
- Irregular or heavy periods
- Vaginal dryness, discomfort or changes in sexual health
- Joint aches, fatigue or weight changes
What the assessment includes
- Symptom scoring and a detailed health history
- A review of your personal and family risks, including heart, breast and bone health
- Hormone and non-hormone treatment options, and lifestyle approaches
- Lab or imaging requisitions where they’re needed
- A written plan, with follow-up to see how treatment is working
How visits work
Your first visit is about 60 minutes: time with our program nurse for your history, medications and questionnaires, then the Nurse Practitioner for assessment and a plan. It can be in clinic or by secure video for people in Ontario. If blood pressure or other measurements are needed, we take them at an in-clinic follow-up.
