Cryotherapy uses extreme cold to remove some common skin growths. Our Nurse Practitioner checks the spot first to make sure freezing is the right treatment, then treats it in the same visit.
What it treats
- Common and plantar warts
- Seborrheic keratoses (raised, “stuck-on” spots)
- Actinic keratoses (rough, sun-damaged patches)
Spots we won’t freeze
Anything new, changing, bleeding or mole-like is checked first and may need a biopsy or a dermatologist instead.
How it works
- Assessment and diagnosis.
- Consent and cost explained before treatment.
- Liquid nitrogen freezes the spot for a few seconds. It stings, then aches for a short time.
- Aftercare: keep it clean and let any blister dry on its own.
Warts often need more than one treatment, a few weeks apart. On darker skin, freezing can leave a lighter patch; we talk about this before treating.
